Great trimmer for a homeowner. So, I have a bunch of the LXT Makita tools, and needed a weed whacker. Good product, EXCEPT Good product, EXCEPT… the wire cutter does not come sharp nor is the placement of the cutter appropriate. This will result in the plastic cutter wire to extend beyond the cutter head skirt guard, resulting in damage/breakage of the plastic skirt. Not a huge deal, but I did have to modify/trim the plastic skirt after the first use of the trimmer due to some damage resulting from this design flaw. I also sharpened the string cutter myself. Electric trimmers have come a long ways Boom!!! Electric trimmers have come a long ways. The first time I used this was for 45 minutes on a 1.5ah battery. I have tons of makita batteries and 4 chargers so this was an obvious choice. I was so tired of wrestling with my gas trimmer, trying to get it started and decided to give this thing a try.
