Great for light summer yard work! I bought this trimmer at Home Depot earlier this summer. Over the summer I used it about 2-3 times a week, mainly with the battery. The one I got at HD came with the charger and a battery, which is sweet because in turn I’ve bought other Ryobi tools because they all use the same battery. As far as weed whacking goes, it works just as good as any other weed whacker I’ve used. I have a .29 acre lot, and I get about 15 minutes of constant “on” use off the battery. It works better than others, but it’s not a great machine FYI, Home Depot sells this unit for $109. So unless you just don’t care about money, go buy it at the store. I think battery powered is the way to go for these jobs. I can’t stand gas powered ones, and I finally switched to the Ryobi Lithium after going through 2 Black and Decker NiCad trimmers. As a trimmer, this does what it is supposed to. A motor turns a string that cuts grass and weeds. That said, there are a lot of drawbacks to this unit.
