Replacing this rod as instructed in the MTD mower manual for the series 430-439 walk behind mower is just impossible.Problem: Instructions say to bend the ends of this metal rod to hold in place. But bending the 1/4 inch ends is impossible.Suggestion: Use captive hardware on ea end of rod. Like spring loaded clamps or collar w/set screw to hold in place.MTD should supply captive hardware with this replacement rod, so customers do not have to drive to hardware…
