Does not charge correctly, erratic charge rates. money wasted as I dont wont to ruin my battery This cheap unit behaves erratically during charging. With the throttle slightly above idle it will charge a the full 15 amps yet when I increase the engine speed it instantly drops back to about 5 amps. Also, after running a few minutes it continues to charge at 5 amps rather than dropping down near zero as the battery reaches full charge. I took another Briggs regulator from my other tractor and it works normally, meaning it stays at 15 amps when I rev the engine and slowly drops back to…

Started smoking first use My original voltage regulator was only putting out about 5 amps. I wanted closer to 10+ amps. I bought this voltage regulator and it started pouring out smoke when I cranked the mower. Yes it was plugged in correctly and yes I already eliminated the alternator, battery, fuses, and wiring.
