It comes out of the box pretty sharp and ready to go I have used these chains for about 5 years now. This chain is not the safety chain you find in the box stores. This is a aggressive/ professional saw chain. It cuts much faster than safety chain. This chain will save you a lot of time when cutting firewood or felling trees. The chain holds up very well if you keep it out of the dirt and touch it up every other tank full.
