Steering knob for John Deere The knob itself is fine. The screws and threaded inserts could be heavier duty. I purchased for mounting on a John Deere 1025R and had read a positive review about use in that model tractor. However, the profile of my steering wheel tend to slant toward the inside which is an awkward angle. I attempted to mount the knob perpendicular to the top edge of the wheel but it kept rotating inward and was loose. When I tightened a but more the bolt and threaded insert stripped. John Deere Knob – Poor Mounting System! Seller was great, but product is not up to John Deere standards. Mounted knob to my X530 lawn tractor. Knob would not stay put. Wanted to twisted inward toward steering wheel hub. Proceeded to tighten Allen screws and had one strip out of the upper knob housing. Upon disassembly and closer inspection of the upper knob housing, there weren’t any threads in either hole. The Allen screws were intended to cut the threads, which mine didn’t do correctly. Ended up tapping threads for larger screws…
Exceeded my expectations Wow! This thing exceeded my expectations in a major way. I have severe neck & back issues with major pain. I also have 2 acres of manicured yard to mow with A LOT of twists and turns. My John Deer does not have power steering, after mowing for almost 3 hours my neck is wrecked. I bought this since I know that some truck drivers use them. But I did not expect it to work soooo well. You can mount it anywhere to fit your desired needs.
