Poor performer I bought this item to replace a previous Black and Decker combo shears/trimmer and was thoroughly disappointed with it’s performance for both functions. The hedge trimmer part would not cut as well as the older model and because it took longer, the charge ran out before I was able to finish my project. The old model did the whole thing on one charge. Actual Use The unit is fundamentally quite good, but performance in actual usage does have a very serious problem. The bottom plate which holds the cutting action in place does not have a quality attachment mechanism. It keeps popping loose with normal usage. The only way I could make the plate properly stay attached was to apply small screws through the base plate at all four corners and into the actual unit housing. Now the base plate cannot pop loose.
