I blamed the deck and rebuilt it again( it was pretty easy the second time) This is the 3rd belt in 2 years from Rotary. I rebuilt my Craftsman LT2000 42inch deck this season and put this belt on. A $10 mistake. Belt was a tight fit, so I followed the other reviewers advice and stretched it out a bit and let it sit on the mower for an hour with the blades engaged (not turned on) to help with the tightness. Fired up the mower and got about 30 minutes into mowing when the belt melted and snapped off. I could tell by the quality of the belt that I should have just forked over the extra money for a real replacement, but wanted to give this a try. Good belt for good price, if it works. I used it as the DRIVE belt on a craftsman 42″ tractor w/a manual trans. Works like CRAP, hard to shift gears now. It may work as a drive belt on a tractor w/an automatic trans, or possibly as a deck blade belt. However this belt is really too short for both applications and will likely cause problems going forward (like rolling the gear teeth in the trans) because the belt is too short.
