The PowerGear 9136 bypass pruner is designed to maximize your cutting power when pruning living plants.  PowerGear pruning tools feature patented gearing technology that multiplies force in the middle of the cut where resistance is greatest. This makes every cut three times easier than traditional single-pivot tools and has helped many of the PowerGear tools earn the Ease-of-Use Commendation from the Arthritis Foundation. Razor-sharp, precision-ground blades cut with less resistance than thicker blades and stay sharp longer, and a rust-resistant, low-friction coating makes every cut even easier. Additionally, ergonomically designed DuraFrame handles fit your hand comfortably and offer excellent durability. The Fiskars 9136 includes a lifetime warranty.

Real arm saver, but not heavy duty The lopper has been in use for more than a year in my backyard orchard. It cuts very well, as claimed, blade is sharp, keeps an edge very well, but may get dented by 1-2 inch dead wood limbs. When using it, make sure you do not twist the handles – which may be a challenge when you must open it very wide to get the job done in difficult spots – because the thin blade will bend sideways and may even get permanently damaged (bent). Also, with intense use, handles do not hold up as expected…

Good for Trail Work I am a crew leader for the Brunswick-Topsham Trail Partnership here in Maine, and we use lopping shears to prune back the vegetation from the sides of our many miles of hiking trails. I personally like the Fiskars 25 inch PowerGear Lopper because it cuts well and is so well-balanced and lightweight. Like most Fiskars products, however, this lopper is made only for light duty use by homeowners, and so its limitations have to be respected when using it for forestry and trail work. It slices…

I’ve never considered myself to be that strong, but after a couple years of use, there goes the handles. I explained the problem to a hardware clerk and he suggested the Fiskars PowerGear Lopper with fairly long handles. He explained that the handles were steel with a plastic sheath covering and it would not be possible to break them. The length was to achieve power.I’ve had the Fiskars…
