I came up with a better solution I’ve used these for years, but they wear out quickly.I came up with a quick solution by getting three 1/16″ steel automotive starter shims, cut off the protruding finger gripping tips and insert them in place ofthe plastic Grass Gator Blades. The shims already have a hole just like the Gator Blades do. Insert the pivot pin through it.Make sure the shims are trimmed to the proper length or leave them if you have the clearance. Now you have heavy duty steel cutting blades…

Well engineered, poor choice of materials. I bought the “heavy duty” grass gator for my cub cadet 4 cycle..it worked well when new, but then the blades started wearing much faster than advertised, now the center section, which is made of plastic, has stripped, which makes the grass gator useless. Plastic seems OK on the outside parts, but should not have been used where 100% of the torque is being released. I plan on trying to use what I can of the gator and make my own, TRUE heavy duty unit.

The best trimmer head I’ve been using this attatchment on my Echo 210 (highly recommend) for about three months. It is without a doubt one of the the best tools I own. I live in a semi-wetland with a lot of blackberries and comfry.I went over the entire property with a circular metal blade to clear a lot of the heavier duty sticks.
