Cheap plastic gear I have owned this chain saw for about 6 months. I used it occaionally around the yard cutting fallen branches etc.I recently cut a larger oak limb that had fallen and while doing so it started making a dull grinding noise and slipping. After awhile the chain would not turn at all. I opened it up to see what was wrong and discovered all the teeth had been sheared off of a large ring gear. Wasnt up to par I am well aware what reconditioned means, but I was disappointed to find that it also means that the box will not contain all the items that come with an actual new retail purchase. If you combine the value of the missing items with the discount for purchasing a used and possibly blemished product, the cheaper price sometimes may not be such a good deal after all. Good little workhorse I bought this in spring 2010 and have used it mostly to trim green limbs, but it easily handles trees up to 16″ Diameter (more if you don’t mind cutting in a circle). I’ve also used it to cut down several smallish trees that were dead and quite dry and hard.I’m impressed with how long the chain has lasted, and give the credit for that to the automatic oiler.I’ve dropped this once from over six feet.
