Cheap plastic gear I have owned this chain saw for about 6 months. I used it occaionally around the yard cutting fallen branches etc.I recently cut a larger oak limb that had fallen and while doing so it started making a dull grinding noise and slipping. After awhile the chain would not turn at all. I opened it up to see what was wrong and discovered all the teeth had been sheared off of a large ring gear. Good little workhorse I bought this in spring 2010 and have used it mostly to trim green limbs, but it easily handles trees up to 16″ Diameter (more if you don’t mind cutting in a circle).
