Planter extends times between waterings. Holes for drainage are scored and need to be drilled or punched out. This is a great planter, but there is frequent confusion on the issue of roots air access and the prevention of root rot (one of the selling points Fiskars uses.). These planters work best IF they have the saucer with it. It’s a point that seller should make more strongly.The planters are sturdy, light, plastic, and very hard to break. But, they do not LOOK plastic; they look like pottery, even only a few inches away. I have Thyme Green and Black planters, and I like both colors…

Very Happy With These Planters! Bought two and they are exactly what I was looking for to put some Cottage Farms sunpatiens in. Lightweight, pretty green color, and they don’t look like plastic. No need to pull out a drill to put holes in the bottom, I easily popped out the holes marked with a scored “X” with a pair of kitchen scissors, you could also use the tip of a screwdriver, the plastic bits pop out easily. I purchased the saucers to go with the planters however the ones suggested don’t fit the planters very…

I could not find what I wanted at those department stores, so I went back to Amazon.com as always. Amazon made it fun to find a planter for my little Aloe Vera plant I wanted to transplant. I chose this Fiskars 8 inch Ariana Planter with Self-Watering Grid (Thyme Green) and the Fiskars TerraTray with it. It is a sturdy plastic, not real pottery. Not heavy. It stands 7″ high.
