There is no assembly for this hedge trimmer, all you need to do is charge the battery. It took about 1 hour to fully charge the battery the first time. This trimmer probably has the sharpest blade of any hedge trimmer I have ever used, and in my 40+ years of yard work I have used many a trimmer.
